Tried pulling last night for first time (always pushed before). I am set up to pull straight back and not off the sides. What suggestions do you have for making turns so they don't get tangled? Do you slow down prior to turning? Speed up?

Make wide turn, very wide. Also angle your outer rods outward to get more spread (ie 90 degree to sides of boat, rather than straight back).
I stay the same speed, the inside lines will slow down, outer ones will speed up, but boat speed I keep the same. Just watch the lines, if they start to get close together where they enter the water, straighten out. It may take several hundred yards to straighten back out to start the turn again (depending on how much line you have out). Hi-vis line helps spotting things.Quote:

Thanks b! I think the problem last night was I was at a smaller lake that doesn't allow for that wide of a turn and the wind was about 18 mph so when I'd start the turn, the wind grabbed the back of the boat and whipped it around.
Wind blew my hat off the other day. By the time I got to it I had about eight lines tied into a Gordian knot. Had to get the knife out and perform surgery. Wasted fifteen minutes and lots of braid. Got home and changed to 10 pound mono. Went again and didn't like the depth that I pulled so ordered some suffix 832 and slick 8 in high viz to try braid again.
I have been pulling cranks with my outboard, but I am getting pretty tired of hearing the motor(Yamaha 40hp 2 stroke) run all the time , not to much "piece and quiet". I have tried using the foot control TM but if I pull my foot off the control the TM turns pretty quick causing a tangled mess if I ain't careful. Is there some trick to keeping this from happening? I fish by myself some. Terrova just a little out of my budget but I have considered one of these. http://images.cabelas.com/is/image/c...ADrPfzOtK2UK34.
No trick, buy a MK with i-pilot!!!
Nope. Motor guide
MK is easy to fix, don't know about motor guide..maybe someone on here does..
Anybody ever run bass pro tournament cranks? Found them for 2.00 this weekend and bought up a Bunch. I can't find any info on them though. Just getting set for pulling cranks and thought this may be a good way? I know I can't expect alot out of them but right place right time.
