Default Good start to the ice season

I have already heard of three dopes who tried hauling a permanent shack out on a lake here in Minnesota using an ATV. Everything ended up in the water including the three dorks. I have a hard time feeling bad for stupid.

At best, only some of Minnesota's ice is foot-travel worthy. The rest is fit for a Kodak moment. Every year we hear of a drowning by someone pushing the envelope on this ice fishing. As much as I had laws designed to protect us from doing stupid things, I honestly feel that maybe we should just have a season set where no-one can be one the ice until all of it is reasonably safe. I have heard where most waters except for a few in the extreme NW corner have less than 5 inches of not so good ice.

Hey CTom, watch out what you wish for. Last year some KS guys went icefishing at Kaw Lake, OK and Very shortly after drilling their holes through 7" of hard, black ice the park ranger pulled up and started honking and waving them over. So they walked up to him and he said I won't write you a ticket, but you have to leave the ice isn't safe or thick enough. So they told him ITS 7" thick and you can drive a car on it. The ranger replied "In OK the whole lake must be froze and the ice at least 9" thick everywhere to ice fish". I'm not moving to OK and the dunkers are good for the camcorder as a lesson for children. Good luck

Mankato lost a grandfather and another 59 year old since has moved on to other worlds. The 59 year old took the ride with his wheeler. Now a guy in Wisconsin Dells drove a car thru but was able to get out of it. Ya drown, you've paid the ultimate cost for a fish. If you survive and have a blood alcohol content of even 0.000001/2 you should be given elctro-shock therapy every day for nine hours for a month and then have to do one year in hard core treatment. Young ice is NOT safe. And think of the lives put in harms way to yank some sap out of the drink just because he wanted to fish or be the first out. We need to have consequences for those that don't deal with God directly.

I see this morning it was reported that some nut case drove a car thru the ice on Lake Delton in Wisconsin Dells. This is going to be a long winter.

LOL sure is. I'm ready to be out on the ice but not that ready. I can wait a few more weeks.. It sounds to me the 59 year old you talked about is the same guy I heard about. He/they went down the same way. Good if it is the same person or a really horrific coincidence if it isn't. I hope it was the same person because we can't be loosing too many people in one season of ice.
