Hello Tennessee, This is my first spring in tennessee i come from colorado and Wyoming Flyfishing for trout for last 5 years. A cowaorker got me started crappie fishing couple weekends ago and I went myself to the river behind my house last sunday and caught 20 or so on minnows. I have to admitt it was alot of fun. What other baits or colored jigs work well here on tennessee rivers for catchin crappie? Any advice I can get I would appreciate.

I don't fish streams,but in the lakes you can't beat minnows.

yeah,mr.john is right it's hard to beat a good ole minnow.here lately i carry minnows and i have tried using jigs and have had some sucess.the colors vary from day to day pending on the weather,bright days i use bright colors and overcast days i use darks.the best thing is to try what you are comfortable with and go from there.

I have the falling water river that runs behind my house.. I caught 20-25 crappie last weekend off the bank with minnows. there is ole tree layin across it. Sounds like minnows is the best for the crappie. Guess its time to get aquarium and start keeping some

My favorite is gray and black, shad color, blue works well with chartruese also.

Welcome from Manchester. As BOS and others have said, minnows work well, but I'd rather fool em than feed em. Colors change with light and other factors, but a few colors and a small box and a pack of 1/16 jig heads and you're off and runnin.
