    Default Promise made, promise kept.

Me and Jeff were working on a deck for my sister and brother in law and the conversation with my BIL turned to fishing, especially crappie fishing. He said he had never caught a crappie over 12". I told him that if he wanted to try and catch a bigger one, maybe even a master angler, 14" in Michigan, he could jump in the boat with us some time. Well, some time was yesterday. We headed to a lake we fished during our spring camp hoping to not disappoint him.

Things started a bit slow, we were working the shallow weeds and spawning areas using baby shad type baits on a jig under a float. Once we found the right combination of the right type of weeds at the right depth with enough openings and/or open areas adjacent to shore the bite picked up nicely. The areas we found them 10 days ago were too weeded in to fish but we found a few spots that held good numbers of fish and he was having a ball pulling in fish after fish.

We stopped keeping fish at 40 and played catch and release for a while before we had to get him home for his golf league. No master anglers but we had some over 13 with a few around 13 1/2 and he got one of those. We sent him home with a nice cooler of fish. Name: 7861285954835773977.jpg
