Been telling Sparty that I had been thinking a lot about "no luck" Duck lake that we hadn't visited in months. But, I didn't really care where we ended up as long as I got on the water. We left the other morning and ended up on a small body of water where we had success earlier in the summer to avoid the pleasure boaters. What a beautiful fall morning it turned out to be. Sunny around 38 degrees with minimal winds.
We launched there and made a couple trolls around catching small crappie and a few yellow perch. As the morning progressed we couldn't find a consistent bite so decided to do a reset, load and head to Duck about 15 min away. Dropped in there and began trolling pretty much off the launch at the first drop off. Ended up being a great move as we had steady action the rest of the day! The closer to the shallow weeds I could put the boat and not weed up the lines, the better the bite. We ended up bringing home 23 decent crappie and 2 nice gills releasing a dozen or so more. A premonition? you decide...Best part we got to enjoy this weather and caught a few fish..because soon the fall colors will be gone and the white stuff will start.
