I got the rest of the foam poured this evening. Also fired up the motor and let it run for about 30 minutes with fresh gas and sea foam. It's a little rough on the idle but that could be from setting. Good stream coming out the pee hole. Started putting the front end back together.
If nothing else, it keeps me from setting on my butt watching TV after dinner.
You could also try adjusting your low idle or high idle jet and see if that makes a difference. Could also be a dirty carb. And by dirty, it could be a tiny piece of something in the low idle jet.
Might be worth purchasing a rebuild kit and tearing the carb apart and giving her a good cleaning. Also, I'm not sure where the motor originated from but, in those days, they came with different jet sizes based on altitude. It could simply be an incorrect jet. But I lean towards simply tuning the low idle jet and then dialing in the high idle jet. People would be surprised by how much performance they can get by fine tuning those things.
Anytime I work with somebody that operates a chainsaw, I always pull out my screwdriver. It never fails, they have no idea that their high idle jet is set to low and the thing is much too rich. You tune it up and they think they have a brand new saw. Speaking of that, I need to adjust my neighbors saw. I can hear it running too rich from 90 acres away!

I really like your new boat Jerry...the way you guys fish those big live wells will come in handy...
I was able to get all of the wood panels cut and fit this week. Yesterday I worked on getting the carpet on them. With the front and rear casting decks finished, I'm going to work on installing the non skid decking on the lower floor today.
Once the floors are in, I need to work on the wiring under the console and replace a few switches. I've been looking for an inexpensive fish finder but so far no luck there. I have the old elite 4 from my other boat with a broken transducer that I can use till I find something else.
With any luck I'll have it in the water within a couple of weeks.
Dad said he saw a new hook 7 on sale for less than 300. Had chirp, down, and sidescan too
I was just talking to Jeff about that a few minutes ago. I need to decide how much I want to spend on a unit that will set 1100 miles from here and be used maybe three times a year. I saw a used Elite 5, bare bones for 50.00 last week end. I should have jumped on it. All I really need is depth and something that will show structure. No hurry, I'll keep looking.
Got the lower floor done today. Here's a before and after.Attachment 342535Attachment 342536
