Perchies are in over in Muskegon. Buddy got 100 in three hours on Saturday and 48 on Sunday.
The problem? Cold nights are leaving skim ice to 1 inch of ice on the lake. Guys are having to bust through to get to the fishing grounds at the Sand Docks in Muskegon. This week just doesn't look good for weather BUT... I still have some plans to try it. Just not sure which day yet
How long do they usually stick around? I keep my schedule fairly open this time of year for just such emergencies. Boats ready, I'm ready, just need the weather to cooperate

That depends. I've seen them stay a couple of weeks. Really depends on how fast it warms up. Normally, they stick around all winter to fatten up and then spawn and leave.
I think this time of year, they are still doing their traditional "under the ice" thing. Water is nowhere near warm enough to spawn. These are actually the best times due to them trying to fatten up.
Another cool thing about Muskegon is that you get two different strains of perch. The Lake Michigan perch or as locals like to call them "White Bellies". Then you have the resident Muskegon lake perch or "Yellow Bellies". They intermingle right around the time the white bellies are done and the yellows start. You don't get near as many yellows but the ones you do get are quite a bit larger in size.
I have an extra large tyvek suit, complete with crime scene booties, NASA helmet, catheter so I don't pee on the boat and a case of Bean-O, because farting isn't allowed in the pretty boat. Steve, can I go with you? I promise I won't bring Captain SinkieQuote:

I haven't done too much fishing. Ice here on LSC was spotty and unsafe but now it is gone. Did a little ice hole dipping with my long rod and found some decent perch. Got plenty of looks from the other shore anglers because of it and lots of questions. But that was weeks ago, weather has been too up and down for me.

Unless you have Steve slather you up with Nair, and then rinse, you might not be able to swim if you get wet.
You would just SINK, and then who would tell Steve "You can do better", then snicker unseen as he toss's back a quality fish?
