Its partially true, Steve said, you got anything? and I said no but I can find or make one.

After some internet search, every thing that looked kind of useful was $20.00, here $30.00 there, for full fledged programs, and thought that's Bull. I can make something for Steve at no cost, via Spreadsheet.

So I used Excel, and made a spread sheet, what fields do you want on it I asked? He pounded his magic hammer thrice on his phone, and I got an image showing me a very old (Might have even been rice paper) fish log.

From that I used some detective work, added some drop down menus, for things like Wind Direction, Sky, Species (28 Fresh Water, and 147 Salt Water) It will total your amount of fish, etc. & a Section for notes.
I took some time to lock the sheet from Steve so he could not change the distance of the fields. (He does not have this sheet yet, he is using a beta/test one from yesterday)

There are a few section, as you cross the spread sheet, there is the Date/Location type data, the Conditions, Presentation, Fish, and Notes.

Before you run off, and think, Man that's ALLOT, its not,.............also myself or anyone with Excel knowledge can make changes, its protected from Steve, but there is not a password.
OH did I mention that you can sort your data? Oh Yeah........ Its cool......
Feel free to use and enjoy.

Hmmm, We can not add spreadsheets, as attachments, here, so you can use this link to download the file.
Save it to your desktop, and tinker, play, there is some test data as an example as well.

That is great but...... I don't carry my computer with me in the boat!

On our salmon boat we always carried a log (mainly because a captain has to). Every day we fished we put all pertinant data in the book. You would be amazed how many times the fish were not biting, I would pull out my log book, look back to a similar day, similar weather condition, find a bait that worked and an area that worked, go out and slam the fish!

More times than not, I need the data on the water. This tool is AWESOME! It would be great to be able to track all of your data and look over for a starting point on a body of water. Unfortunately, when that plan goes sideways on the water, you need that log book to look back on for a course and speed adjustment!

Steve was looking for something to replace his paper, this was the solution.

I have drop box on my smart phone, and PC, I can access the spreadsheet from anywhere I have my phone, review, edit, add, etc

That might be advanced for Steve, but I will work to get him there.

You make it sound like I’m a knuckle dragger......

Although anything that is New to me, especially computer stuff......gives me anxiety, I eventually get up to speed.

I think the anxiety of computer related things comes from being a project manager for a year and a half.....Corporate office sends out new spread sheets, new mapping etc. and with no prior knowledge or training I was EXPECTED to be right on it that day!

I try not to utilize any form of computer while I'm fishing... I HATE THEM!!!

    I can see it now:
Aaron, log in that fish we caught. Purple, 30 feet back. Sky is gray, temp is 30 degrees...
Oh wait, Aaron, log this fish in, green, 75 back on... oh wait I got another one.

Aaron, you get that done yet?

Rich, I lost my phone. SPF 800 is slippery!

Hammer dragger, maybe, knuckle dragger no............

I used you as example only, because I built it for you, but would feel bad for anybody who would try and use it, and mess up there work of entering.

Then lose it all, or not be able to see something or have all fields revert to hash tags like yours last night.

For the record, Steve is not a Knuckle Dragger.

Once we get you DropBox configured, you will be rocking and rolling, and I won’t have to worry about you losing your important data as well...........

Little steps will lead to bigger steps then you’ll be Internet & PC Suave in no time..........

I'll check it out when I get home. Something I've wanted to, just never made the time.

OE, you need to add a feature where the fish get bigger as time goes on. That way it would be on par with the stories you tell.

    Fish on!

I'm not about to carry a computer with me either, I figure when I get home I'll just fill in the appropriate blanks ( ones I remember that is) as I need them. As time goes on and I get used to the data columns I'll just have more to remember at the end of the day.

It's a tool that I can put as much or as little info in as I can.
