Day 3
By Floyds standards it wasn't a good day, 1 blackfin tuna was all that was caught. By my standards it was a great day just to be offshore fishing.
We started out trying to catch bait (sardines, goggle eyes) but didn't do well. But we got a few so that's what we went fishing with.
At day's end 1 blackfin (8lbs) tuna was it......ones better than none!
Going out tomorrow, but we are going to buy bait instead of trying to catch it.....saves time!

Bet those tuna are tasty!
We had raw uncooked tuna for dinner, it wasn't bad that way however I like it better seared in a hot pan with extra virgin olive oil.
We also had some of the king mackerel cut into bite sized pieces and deep fried....it tasted just like white fish from home.

A while back Rich mention the Gaiter he was wearing to protect himself from the sun......now that I've used mine, I am sold on it. The first day out I got a bit too much sun not burnt just sore. Most of the second day I wore the gaiter to protect my skin that is exposed to this blistering hot sun. I'm glad I bought one I'd be a crispy critter if I hadn't used it.
Also.....loving the high performance cooler made by Engel.

When I was in Hawaii, the locals (not meant in a bad way) more along the lines of the indigenous population. (People who lived in the island, including me)
Until I was considered "Local" some foods were kind of different.
They did like Raw Salmon. What they did was cut the Salmon into small squares. kind of like the small ham squares people sprinkle onto salads.
They would then cut Onion into the same size. The acid from the onion would "Cook" the Salmon, and it was excellent. Especially when I was so far from home.
Also if you go to fast food, they automatically give you Mayonnaise, not Catsup. You have to ask for that, the local prefer Mayo on their Fries.
It's an acquired taste...... lol

Day #4 was a king fish day plus one barracuda
The kingfish' were caught 8 miles offshore the barracuda was 15 miles out......was trolling for mahi-mahi when the barracuda bit the ballyhoo.
Ocean may be too rough to go fishing so snorkeling in the inter coastal waterway may be the activity for the day.

The barracuda was released, I hear they are not good to eat.
