Morrison Lake limit
My neighbor, Jeff, called me last night and said he had today off. I was supposed to get up on a roof today and knew if the temp hit 85 I wouldn't want to be on a roof so we decided to go fishing instead. We were on Morrison Lake by 6:00 and went to the same spot that I fished with Steve and Aiden last week. I was fishing one rod, a 12' Bucks Graphite Jig Pole, with a small black and pink tube jig on the bottom and a #10 gold hook with a red worm up about 2 feet and a 1/4 oz egg sinker in between. This the same type of set up I use for crappie in Louisiana. My second rod was a gold hook/ slip bobber combination. We started catching fish right away, both in shallow water around the docks and just off the drop in 10-15 feet of water. We slowly worked the shoreline keeping the boat in the 10-15 foot depth range so I could fish my long rod while lobbing our bobbers into the shallows. By 10:30 we had our limit of gills and crappie along with one decent perch. We had the boat on the trailer and were on the way home by 11:00. Water temp was 75 degrees and there was a nice algae bloom going on. Many of the males were still squirting and some females still had their eggs.
