It has been almost a month since our last tournament and I've only been on the water once since that time. May just hasn't been a good month. From working many hours on multiple projects, to lack of sunlight, it has been downrite terrible in the fishing department.

When the sun does shine, I'm so far behind on farming work that I have to play all day catchup. It leaves little time to do much else.

Chris and I hit a local 30 acre lake out by our houses on Saturday morning. Met at the walk in site at 6:30 am and carried his 12 footer to the water.

We fished until about 9:15 and boated around 100 crappies between the two of us. Most of them were on the small side and went back to grow up. Chris did take home about 20 fish for the fryer. We caught fish on just about everything we threw at them. Charlie brewer sliders in lime green and a chartreuse tail, Big Bite 2 inch shad, Bobby Garland in CremeSickle...

From what I have read, it seems that this little lake is almost too small to have Crappie in it. The size of the lake just doesn't bode well for the numbers. As a result, the fish are running really small. There are preditors in the lake but it doesn't appear to be enough to put a dent in the ever growing population of crappies. Still fun to catch though!
