    Default Evening Crappie @ Duncan

Since I had not been out since my last Detroit River Trip, I had been struggling with time to go fishing.

A few jokes, about washing my boat, then getting to go was the ticket. Washed my boat day before yesterday, went and got it dirty last night.

Went to Local Lake near me, Duncan, Launched, took off to try drifting near the creek inlet that feeds the lake. Some guys already fishing that area. Take off for my favorite location, and it was DEAD.

The took off, and tried some other locations, and eventually, ended up where I wanted to start. Drifting produced nothing.

I ended up sitting in 13 feet of water, Water temp 61.3, Casting Minnows on a jig head, under a slip bobber, about 1.5 to 3 foot under the bobber.

Had to cast them right up tight to the lilly pads, to get anything.
All three rods took fish, was not fast and furious, but 3 rods kept kept me busy.

Largest was 14 the rest were between 10 & 13.
They are in the bucket, & in the fridge already, and will get cleaned and I will be having Crappie tonight!

BUT the weather forecast is calling for storms tomorrow AM, so as the front moves in they might be a bit more inclined to attack, my offerings under the bobber.

So, I may run home, clean, what I have, then go back out, and have Crappie Thursday night.

Good job on figuring them out. I got a few yesterday as well and had my first jet ski sighting of the year. The warm weather brings them out along with ticks and mosquitoes.

Saw a jet idiot the other day as well!

Great work Aaron. I on the other hand have had enough to deal with at work to where I come home and get on the tractor for 3 hours and pretend I am a farmer instead of a computer guy. Worse yet, a computer guy working for the government.

I acquired 5 more last night, prior to the sprinkles, 7 rain. Once that stated they shut down.

The 8 from the prior day was a mix of male/female, oddly only on female had eggs.

Last night, the 5 were all females, and full of eggs. the eggs were still hard, and the spawn is probably a week or two out before it hit full effect.

So with that I suspect they will be in full spawn the week prior to Memorial Day Weekend. Of course that will be the two weekends Ill be doing my Moms Roof.... Go Figure.

Rich, I know all about IT.
It SUCKS, but I like the tractor, and farmer, I love to mow my lawn. I can look behind me and immediately see that I have accomplished something. Where in the IT world we work, at the end of the day, there is nothing "Visual" of any accomplishments.

100% exactly right. This is, almost to the letter what I tell everyone about IT. I guess that was why I was always so content to swing a hammer. I could see the accomplishments at the end of the day!

Maybe that is why fishing is so theraputic. We can see the results. Some days it is a full livewell. Other days, a hook in your finger, a quick trip to shore to evacuate that sausage sandwhich you "should NOT" have eaten, a broken rod, or your gas gauge going from full to half a tank. Progess to be seen

Wait, what? You fished Macatawa? You caught crappie? Now you REALLY are my hero! I have yet to figure them out on Mac.

Bet you stopped for an elephant ear and some Dutch dance too didn't you.

Saturday Morning, (Late Morning, until about 3pm)

Was back at Duncan, Acquired 10 more.

Water as 64, I was sitting in between 12, & 6 at one point.

All caught under a slip bobber. Watched some guys cast for them, and surprisingly caught a handful.

I had 2 at that time, and they had about 7 between the two of them, then nothing for them, and they left./

I tried it while watching two floats, and NOTHING, I have never been able to catch a Crappie in that method.

Anyway, at one point, I caught 3 within 90 seconds, and though GEE its going to be a banner day, then I picked off a few more, the last two to make an even 10 were the hardest.

When the winds picked up from the South, it was kind of annoying.

In all, it was a good day, having some Crapiie for Mothers Day today,

    Should be a great meal.
