Nice report! Am a bit suprised they are shooting the weeds this early. They usually don't get to the lakes south of here until late June thru July.

1/16 tube jig just off the break 8-10 ft deep, red and white seemed best.
mostly females and still full of eggs, ready to pop though.
two nice perch also.
wish this wind would stop.

Life has many choices, eternity has two...choose wisely.
Unapplied biblical truth is like unapplied paint...how many gallons do you have sittin' around? U.D.
At least you are getting out. Every time I have intentions of getting out, something else seems to come up. I guess the days that are condusive to fishing (and enjoying it) are also the same days that are condusive to tilling soil, planting crops, and so on...
I've fished in my fair share of crappy weather this year (in every tournament and pre-fishing event I've been in). I guess I just don't want to do it when I don't "Have to". Upcoming memorial day weekend won't help matters any either!

Okay, gotta ask......
Whats a wed killer boat?
If I was to guess, it is a boat with a sprayer full of weed killer they are killing weeds in the water.....but thats too simple.
Glad you got out John, was that before or after Wanda had you up on that tall ladder washing her windows?
You guessed it Steve.Usually it's an air boat and they spray the weed beds. Middle Lake weeds up bad in the summer so maybe they're trying to get a head start.
I have not been out near as much as I would like to, but I just hate when I have to work so hard to catch a few fish....I want to enjoy it, and putting out two anchors and still dragging them is NOT my idea of fun!
yes , weed killer boat is an airboat loaded with chemicals and a sprayer, they post a yellow paper telling the date they sprayed. (at least that is what they use around my area)

rich, I fished walleye tournaments for awhile, I quit doing them for the very reasons you mentioned, seems like every tournament is held in bad weather!!! and prefishing seemed to go the same way....I love the competition, but enjoy picking and choosing my fishing days more![]()

John you sure are right about dragging 2 anchors. Did that on the weekend and in addition to the wind we enjoyed the rain. Think I will be a sunny calm day fisherman at least for a little while.
Funny you mention that John. 7 Tournaments in the last two years. Of the total days on the water (including pre fishing) we have had a grand total of 3 days of sunlight! Two of those three days involved heavy winds and waves to 3 feet.
I don't mind fishing in the rain (if it pops up) but I don't exactly seek it out either. I fish to enjoy it.
Will be at Houghton Lake in 10 days for the next tournament. My guess is going to be sunny, calm, and zero fish!
