always hate to put the boat away for the year.....
time to get wood cut and work on my "other" project
have always wanted a super custom luxury deer blind, so I had to build one!!!
work in progress, 14 ft off the ground , insulated, wired so I can hook up a 12 volt converter,
need to be able to watch some football while deer hunting
this is year two of a three year build
has been a lot of fun.
now just need a good recliner and some nice bucks to show up!

I thought fish trembled when they heard my name.......then I heard the laughter
You actually "put your boat away"? What happens when we get that warm up in December and everybody is trolling for walleyes? I know, only happens every couple of years.
Nice blind... we refer to one of mine as "The Condo". I have another one reffered to as "The lemonade stand". Recliners in one, rolling plush office chairs in another. Carpet, insulation, propane heat, cabinets on the walls. Funny thing, I never hunt out of either of them much. Abby loves them though and that was the point. I have another one in the planning stages. Built mine 16 foot off the ground with 20 foot 6x6 poles. I love the live edge siding and the steel balisters is a great touch. Wish my house looked like my blinds!!

true rich, I guess the boat is never truly "put away" but this year I am going to try and do some work on the trailer, it needs some TLC.
so after I change the lower unit oil, it will be out of commission until I get the work on the trailer done.
I think I have more fun building the deer blinds than I do hunting out of them.
this one will double as a playhouse for grandkids, and just someplace to go relax away from the house at times.
plan on recliners too..............ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
hugastump, good thing I almost never ice fish any more, I would hate to see what my ice shanty would look like![]()
fillet em n fry em![]()

John,
I feel the same way. I had more fun building them than really hunting out of them. I usually sit with more than one person if I go to one. Hunted the "condo" last night with my dad. I've been under the weather and the heat has been bad so I didn't feel like sitting in a tree stand. Brian and I put in a new lane that cuts through a bedding area as well as a new water hole and it was fun to watch the little ones come out last night and frolick around. I think I've killed two deer out of these blinds but, I have been able to take my daughter out in the woods since she was three years old. She doesn't get cold and doesn't get bored and was a great way to introduce her to the enjoyment without all the downfalls of "cold and bored". She takes her friends out there in the spring time. They color (I have coloring books in a cabinet). They have a great time in it. You can sit in there, talk, play cards, and enjoy the company of others. Sure, you can sit in the house, but it isn't out in the woods, being out in nature, without all of the negatives that go with it. Parents get older and still want to enjoy the outdoors and it is a great way to do so.
Hugastump: I own three portable shanties but am usually the guy you see out on the ice in nothing but bibs hopping from hole to hole. I'm the fortunate person that doens't get cold for some reason.

No rent needed Larry. More than welcome anytime. Put on your slippers, crank up the heat, watch the deer, turkeys, birds, and my favorite, the squirrels! I'll even let you color in one of Abby's coloring books!
