I had a long story I was going to put out but figured I would simply post some event pictures.
Basically put, we were hoping/praying to fish the bay. Mainly because we were on pounds of fish when no body else could find them. In the end is wasn't meant to be. We were forced to fish the river where others were on pounds of fish and we were not. On day one, in the pouring rain, we found good numbers of fish trolling a section of flats. The problem was that they would not measure up. In the end on day one, we weighted 3 fish totaling 4.02 lbs. We were well off the lead but only a hand full of lbs out of the money and 15th place.

Day two brought cold temperatures and snow. It shut the trolling down. Vertical jigging was the key and really small baits. On day one, half the field or more went to the mouth of the river while the rest went up stream. After seeing the bags come in from up stream on day one, only a hand full of people went to the mouth. We decided not to leave fish to find them so we headed to the mouth. This is a death sentence however because it is a 45 minute boat ride through a no wake zone. You simply cannot change mid day and head up river... That was the major issue with the development of being confined to the river.

We tried jigging in the morning first thing and all we could find was Drum (sheepshead)
This photo shows one of the two biggest fish. The other one was actually bigger. A lot bigger. I should have photographed that one.

Trolling proved to not be much better. We managed to find a few walleye but they were all small.

We decided to go to the spot where we caught a few, find some structure and vertical jig. Kevin and I worked this spot for over 2 hours. We managed to catch two walleyes to bring to the scale. The only hope was that others had issues today as well. The day's weight was 3.89 lbs. The guys that went up stream (monkey see, monkey do) actually put fish in the boat. There were a few guys from day one that had zero's or one's on the board that jumped over us in the standings with their catches. Oh well. I cannot change the weather. One of these days we will get a break. Enjoy the photos.
