OK, well, maybe we'll see you out on the Bay someplace. We can trade phone numbers? You guys know our pontoon, and I know your boats if I see them. Either way, feel free to stop by for a visit..

Gary,
Sunset, in my opinion, is one of the best kept secrets on the bay. It is a little north east of Bay city outside of Unionville. They have a nice campground and a really nice marina. They run their own dredge and their canal that leads to the bay is one of the shortest around. Two different launches make it nice in the morning. In the afternoon, usually one is used for incoming and other for outgoing boats. The only thing they don't have is a fish cleaning station. From the entrance to the canal, it is about 3 miles to "Thomas Reef". I fished that reef from the 3rd of July until late August and hit good numbers every time out. Most days, I was the only boat around. Meanwhile, the radio chatter out by Linwood and the shipping canal had boats on top of one another.
As for Detroit. Other than a few day trips (not planned) I will be on the river pre-fishing for the first leg of the Michigan Walleye tour from April 5th through the 8th. The tournaments dates are the 9th and 10th. As you have seen from Kevin, he will be pre-fishing the second leg of the tour (Saginaw) in Early May. Kevin and I have teamed up this year and will be fishing the entire series. The first leg is on the Detroit river (April 9th and 10th), the second leg is in Saginaw on May 14th and 15th. The third leg is Alpena on July 16th and 17th. The last stop in the tour is August 12-13 in Sault Ste. Marie.
I think Kevin will be in Detroit around the same time as I will. Unlike most teams, Kevin and I will pre-fish in different boats. The reason is that together, we cover less water. By splitting up, we can cover more water, cover more areas at different times, and find more fish. We can also each have people in our boats, try different baits, and techniques, than we could if we were just doing it together. Steve will be my partner on at least one of my pre-fishing days!
We still have sponsorship spots if anyone knows of a Michigan based company that wants to get their name out there!
Thanks for the info Rich Nice to know a couple of "professional walleye fishermen" good luck!
I don't think there is anything "Professional" about me or Kevin :Rofl
You know he wanted to call our team "Ebony and Ivory"....
Of course, I'm making him out to be the bad guy. I was voting for "Salt and Pepper" :biggrin
