Howdy folks.
I have the good fortune to live at Houghton Lake, Michigan's largest inland lake at 20,000 acres. If you like catching crappies (and I do), this is the time of year to fish them - in about 2 weeks they will scatter and become nearly impossible to target. I got these last Thursday. Not a limit, but a reasonable fish fry. Except for the 9 incher I kept because I gill hooked him, these are all 11 to 13 inches. Houghton Lake regularly gives up 14 inchers, with a few 15 and 16 inchers every year. All were taken fishing roadrunners tipped with fatheads on a controlled drift or jigs/minnows under slip bobbers.
Got another 9 yesterday before the cold front came through. Take care and good fishin'.
