Al,
Another trick is to puchase a hydrofoil stabilizer. It is a fin mounted to the plate on your lower unit. Buy the one that bolts on. Will help your boat get out of the hole quicker, up on plane faster, and reduce porpoising.

Norm and I tried the river for steelies no fish, but I tried the tad poll rig from Offshore Tackle off the side of the boat, seemed to work the same as trolling. Has any one else tried this? I would like to try it again soon.
Got a Perch fishing trip planned for 8am in the morning. Got rain coming in, hope it holds off till we get done fishing.
I got skunked. Guy next to me got 4. Apparently I had the wrong bait... LOL
Hey alboy. Do you ever go up to hardy? I seen a boat up there bout a week ago that looked like yours
I've been up there, but not with the new boat. I was thinking about a run up there soon though.
I need someone to show me the hot spots up there. I hear the walleye are still biting.

It must get quiet in here when the weather turns cold.
Anybody ever thought of dropping there own brush piles or stake beds?
I did some investigating a number of years ago on what the legal means would be to drop structure in lakes. It requires some work to procure the proper permission. To begin with you must supply the DNR with a sketch of the structure including a materials list. You also have to indicate the body of water and location in that body where you wish to place the structure. Then, and probably the most difficult, is you have to get permission from the land owner who has "Riparian Rights" to the land underneath the water where your structure will be placed. Here's an excerpt from a law firm website that puts in in lay terms:
Michigan has unique rules which are used to decide disputes about waterfront property. For example, the owner of property on an inland lake has title to the bottomland beginning at the lakefront. For rivers and streams, the ownership extends to the "thread” or center of the flowing water. Ownership of inland lakes is usually pie shaped and extends to the center point of the lake. The other river or lake front owners have a right to navigate and fish over the privately owned bottomland.

Needless to say, I gave up on the idea. :dono
Good find Don,
Glad Kevin asked... I do know a lot of people that live on lakes that will put their Christmas trees on the ice in the winter time. That seems to be pretty popular and the DNR seems to not have a huge issue with it but anything more than that seems like a nightmare in paperwork!
Yup. Would definitely be easier when you are the land owner.
Wonder how it would be treated if the land was federal or state.
I am just going to rely on the cover of darkness and the fact no one will be able to see me do it!
I'm in the mood for some Venison jerky.
What about some back straps slow cooked smothered with some garlic and onion and gravy!!!!!!
If I was looking at 12' crappie rods...
having never owned a long rod and only used UltraLite stuff thus far, would the difference between a 60$ rod and 30$ rod be noticeable?
Lots of the folks down south like these, and I did actually get to hold a 14 footer. Think they may be in my future:

I guess my wife wanted me to have B&Ms. She bought me a couple today for my birthday.
Got my new crappie calenders the other day. They look great.
Yeah there's some good pics of the kids in there too. I like those the best.
This AM Started at 50 degrees and misty, after sunrise Yes it did show for a while, temp 54. went on a little scouting trip, clouds rolled in rain started headed to car and came face to face with a Monster Buck that I knew hadda be there but had never seen. Not sure who jumped first, but he won and was gone in a heartbeat. Adrennalin rush got almost to the car and I was withing sight of it and started shiverring. Hate being cold and wet. Started car and temp gage show outside temp 41 degrees. Did not warm up on the trip home. Took off the wet dud and realized house is cold as well. Checked tstat, 59 degree and still set for AC. Remedied tha situation but am still cold.
So how's your day going?
I think it's gonna be a lazy Saturday.
I wish I could be lazy. Or maybe my idea of lazy is someone's idea of busy.... you must teach me your ways master!
Im in the midst of a life change. Ive been purging my life of that which use to consume all my thoughts, time, and money.
With that change comes some free time. Fishing has taken some of the time, ive been getting back into hunting a bit, my family gets a bit more time, but ive got some left over to just kick back and watch the grass grow.
Anyone have any insight on how Houghton Lake or Long Lake are doing fishing wise? Walleye, pike, or crappie would be nice.
I have to make a trip to Harrison Saturday and only need to be there all of 5minutes.
Figure If I'm going that far I might as well drag the boat and make a day of it.
Not sure. I would call on of the bait shops. A few years back, I fished a lake close to Harrison called Cranberry Lake. I did good on crappie and always thought of going back
Yea that lake is pretty close to long lake if I remember correctly. There's quite a few lakes up that way. Im thinking we are gonna give it a go and see what happens.
Alright, alright.... You guys are to talkative. I need some peace an quiet. I'm gonna hit the lake.
If I'm not back by dinner, save me a plate.
These dang leaves won't stop falling, maybe if I cut the grass down to the dirt , the leaves will blow into the neighbors yard. Lol
Get you one of these Kev. Best investment in lawn care you can make. All made in USA and it shows.
Made a 3 day job into a 3 hour job. Heck, you might even get Mama on it, then you have more fishing time. You could make some side money doing lawns in you neighborhood.

They need to make one that mounts to a push mower or can you create a harness so my teenage son can pull it around the yard. Lol
Thank the lord I live in the country. I just let the leaves blow around and mow them up in the spring. I hate anything to do with mowing grass or maintaining it but my lawn magically looks like a golf course.
Larry, you going to get out on the ice this year or you heading south
