Looks like a great time on the water Don. Nice looking variety of fish the two of you caught.

Well Carol and I got up here around 7pm on Wednesday evening and nicely got camp set and checked out the facilities. Brower Park is pretty nicely laid out. The shallow channel has a lot of mooring posts that are first come, first serve for tying up boats, so you can leave the boats in once you launch if you want. We didn't bother putting the boat in the water until Thursday morning.
We marked a lot of fish in 14-16 FOW in the channel at the launch so we worked it for a bit. Carol had some fun with rock bass and smallies, but no crappie. Water temps are in the low to mid 70's and we ran to some flats and shallows to see if the fish were on the beds. There were beds, but they were in clusters which is typical of gills. We tried some slow trolling in 8-16 FOW and I only came up with one barely legal walleye. We tried a few other areas and tactics in the morning, but no crappie.
We spent some time comparing notes with Ed's brother-in-law Bob, his son Lewis, and nephew Josh during the afternoon. They had one crappie to their credit from their morning outing. We all headed out around 6, and the evening for us was a different story. We boated 19 from one tree top and tossed back several small ones. They ranged from 10 to 13 inches. I discovered they liked Berkley Powerbait minnows as well a the real McCoy!
Unfortunately, signal strength here is touch and go and several attemps to attach pics has proven fruitless, so those who are coming up for this weekends camp will just have to go see for themselves. Safe travels to all who plan on attending.

It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D
