Default Anyone fish Herendeene lake ?

Hello, from Indiana,I'm taking the family up to Herendeene lake for a week to stay in a cabin at the Sleeping Bear in north east Michigan for vacation in a few weeks. Anyone know what kind of fish can be found in that lake ? Walleye ? Pike ? Good pan fish fishing ? Any other near by lakes with a public launch worth trying ? I have a small jon boat with a 3hp motor and elec. motor. -Thanks !

Hello Kyron4! I've caught some nice walleye out of Lake Leelenau and some good crappie too. I can't really tell you much more about the other lakes in that area, but any local bait shops would be able to give you some tips.

Here's a link to the DNR websites interactive map on state boat launches if you need to know where they all are: http://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/MRBIS/mapbasic.aspx

Good luck and above all be safe and enjoy the time with you family!

Never fished that lake.. heck, never even heard of it and I'm from up that way. Sleeping bear in "North West" Michigan, is pretty close to some nice small local lakes that would be perfect for a John boat. Like Don said, check the local bait shops and also the website he forwarded.

Up towards Sleeping bear you have Lime Lake, Pearl Lake, and Lake Ann. There is also Platte lake, Grass Lake, and Upper Herring lake. All of those are within Benzie and Leelanau Counties. I don't know much about them, but it might be worth a little research before you head that way.

Don't be afraid to hit the canals and back bays in some of the bigger lakes up there either!

    Good luck and have fun.

Opps, I meant north west Michigan. I see Lake Ann is pretty close by and is a larger lake with a public launch, fishing any good there ? -Thanks

Was reading a website on Lake Ann fishing. Supposed to be good for Lm and Sm bass, gills, and pike among others. They didn't list crappie, but they are in just about every lake in the state to some degree.
