lake odessa , (or jordan lake as some call it) has a good crappie population, I have caught a few very nice slabs there.
I just moved (again) to hastings, am only about three miles from thornapple lake, hope to get time to check it out soon, I know it has lots of crappie, just have never heard about any good sized fish coming from there..
good luck!!

John,
Isn't that funny how we never "hear" of any good sizes coming from a place but we go there and catch em. Then we have that "ah ha" moment and realize why we never "hear" about it!
With that said... In a couple of weeks, John's Thornapple reports will read..... "Fished thornapple Lake for a couple hours, caught a few fish but nothing worth writing about", and our interpretation of it will be "I'm hooking up the boat and heading to Thornapple!":biggrin

I have actually seen some nice crappie pulled out of Thornapple. I have never fished it for crappie but I am going to check it out in the next few weeks. I am heading to Baldwin this weekend. Hopefully we catch a few!

I've seen John fish a few times now and it's serious business. If he can't catch 'em, nobody can. :twocents

Well I went up to the private lake this weekend with no luck, it was so darn windy! The lake is very clear and I didn't see any crappie making beds yet, the water was still pretty cold. I will be back up in 2 weeks hopefully that goes much better. We might hit Sessions or Thornapple this weekend.
