Representing MICDC
Well, it wasn't crappie fishing, but a couple of us MICDC guys ventured out on to the Detroit river for a little Walleye fishing. Skillet007 (Kevin) met me at the launch at 6am. Thank god for a private launch as I have never seen so many boats on the water as I did on Saturday.
It was a tough Northeast wind. Usually, not many fish are caught in that wind. Add the number of boats on the water, chop, and you have a recipe for tough boat control. We missed a ton of fish due to the conditions. Eric (AKA Hermin) didn't know that Kevin was coming with me. The look on his face when we met up was priceless.
We picked at them throughout the morning and managed to boat a respectable 7 fish. This time of year, the males are in hot and heavy. Although they are not the big females of weeks prior, they are the better eating fish. If we would have stayed on that water, I'm sure we could have managed more, but, the wind picked up and it was time to move.
I did watch Eric's buddy boat his biggest walleye. I don't know if he is on CDC yet, if not, Kevin and I came up with a couple of handles for him.... "ZigZag"..... and "Figure 8".
Kevin and I with the days catch:
