My brother just spent a week on Pentwater and caught like 200 crappie. About half of them were in one trip.

Appreciate the info doodler....if it wouldn't be to much trouble to see if the house your daughter cleans can accomodate 13, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again for your assistance.

I understand that you do NOT want to do the "great lakes thing" however, alot of great things to do are associated with towns on or near the great lakes. My reccomendation is to find an inland lake that is located in close proximity to a Great Lakes Town. Grand Haven, Muskegon, Ludington, Pentwater, Tawas, Bay City (just to name a few).

I know of a few lakes that have places to rent that can accomidate the "larger" crowd. Again, they will be closer to the Great Lakes.
Portage Lake in Onekema (connects to lake Michigan)
Pentwater Lake in Pentwater (connects to Lake Michigan)
White Lake in Whitehall (connects to lake Michigan)

All these lakes offer bigger houses to rent, right on the water (NOT on the great lakes) tons of stuff to do locally and on the water.

All else fails, open a map, put it on the wall and throw a dart at it. My bet is you land within 5 miles of a lake. I know Eric stired up the Michigan/Ohio debate, but we actually have more miles of lakes rivers and streams in Michigan than Minnesota does (they didn't have anything else to put on their license plates)!

    Thanks wick....will look into!

Daughter says the house will accomodate 14. I'm assuming that's sleeping quarters. Let me know if you want some contact info for the people that rent the place.

Maybe a comment from a from a out of state family that loves Michigan vacations will help. HAMLIN LAKE near Ludington Mi. Awesome place for a family vacation! Google Hamlin Lake and Ludington. I am getting near the big 60 and this was the best place that I ever visited on vacation. Not just for "oldies" like me, my teenage son loved it also!

    Fish Lake Hamlin
Awesome beaches of Lake Michigan a couple of mile away
    Lighthouses
    Awesome Food
Kayaking Lake Michigan and Lake Hamlin
    Small town friendly atmosphere
    The Badger
    Lake Hamlin State Park
Lake Hamlin was good for our 17 ft crappie boat
Nice beach nearby that let us take our golden retriever

Michigan Cabin Rental in Southwest Michigan This lake is small but you can water ski and the crappie and bluegill fishing is great(the pics I have of huge stringers is from there). You will need multiple cabins but they are nice,The lake is clean and quite.
