New mold arrived.
So ya didn’t have to eat raw hamburgers?
Very nice. Looks perfectly poured.
Jack the new mold is exceptional. The quality is the best I have seen. I own a Jacobs, a Shawn Collins, and a Print-a-lure.
None other can compare. The hinge is perfect. The cavities fill completely even when the mold is cold. Any technique for pouring works. The jig heads release smoothly and easily. The mold is over sized and came blemish free. There is no slop to be removed prior to painting. I was able to lay seven hooks in it in a straight forward and very easy fashion. The heads easily separate from the sprue and leave a nice finish.
It is a Fat Boys Fishing Big Eye Minnow mold in 1/16th ounce. The cavity for the eye looks like 5mm. The mold states 4mm is ideal. The picture shows a 6mm Super Pearl, which is a good look to me. No need to paint the jig head, then bake it. Just add big eyes and seal in a top coat. The jig in picture is not sealed, just pressed on eyes. My new clear coat hasn’t arrived yet.
I am super impressed with this mold and wish I had bought it as my first mold. The quality is in every little aspect. I highly recommend other folks get a super mold from Fat Boys and forget about any other molds. They have considered every aspect. The engineering is top shelf the whole way.
The best mold maker there is.
Good to know one can get a premium quality mold
I piddled some and epoxied some eyes on the heads I poured with this new mold. Then this morning I tried tying a few od the ideas I had.

This one hs a lot going on with it. Too much floo-floo.

This one look sleek and ready to swim along behind the boat. A single hackle feather.
Then there is this thing.
Attachment 463573
This is a marabou feather jig, with a plastic trailer attached using a screw thingie thing shown below.

I tied the jig then screwed the plastic bait onto the screw. Then eased the thingie thing onto the bend of the hook and continued screwing the bait until it was both upright and in tight. It actually is kind of nice. The bait isn’t going to pull loose, and a crappie can easily engulf the entire mess. The bait swings wildly even for being secured. At first I thought I would need to tighten down on the wire and close up the loop that attaches to the hook, but once the bait gets further up the screw it closes off the gap and boom. There yah are.
I like the concept and plan to explore what it is good for. The baits should probably be smaller ones so the length doesn’t get too far out of hand.
I like the look of that big shiny eyeball leading the way. These heads were not filed or shaved in any way. They came out of the mold just like they look. The Super Pearl 1/4” eyes give off several colors as they move. I really like the way they look, but shad have golden eyes. Still they should work just fine and I don’t have to paint the head when done up like this.
Good looking ties
Man that's unbelievable. I'm not eating a rare or raw hamburger period. I don't care how cantankerous he is! Have a friend at work, his father in law will eat ground beef straight out of the package. He prefers it that way. Atleast he will cook everyone else's on the grill to their liking. I cant stand a dictator especially one who could cause serious health issues. I would tell him to step back and let me tend my own burger and wait for the response!
Anyways nuff rambling, I enjoy the post!
