Default Looking for advice on buying a used boat

Just like the title reads, I am in need of a boat, motor, and trailer. I would like a new express 20' boat rigged out but that will cost me upwards of $33k. If I could get a good condition boat suitable for crappie fishing all presentations at a decent price, I would jump on that.

    Where should I start looking?

The big motor is where you need to be careful. Buy the boat with a great running big motor. You can set up the boat but the Motor is the real expense and must be in great shape- Have good mechanic check it out. 10 cents

Put the word out through your family and friends, like you did here. No doubt they know a guy who knows a guy who is selling a used boat.

Having bought LOTS of used boats the one thing I keep in mind is unless it is an unusually great deal I will buy from a dealer where I can get a warantee. I have spent countless $ and hours fixing a boat that I bought from an individual and the one time I bought a used boat from a dealer within the first 30 days the dealer had to do a complete rebuild of the Johnson 135 which would have been a very expensive repair if I had to pay for it myself.

You will pay more at the dealer but consider it insurance. Oh - and get insurance no matter where you buy it.
