    Default BROKE CAVITATION PLATE

I was just wondering is there a DIY fix for a broke cavitation plate as I have way more time than money. The boat steers fine and the motor is a 25 h.p. Johnson.Looking for an inexpensive cosmetic fix!

How in the world did you do that? Looks like maybe you could grind that down, round the edge and paint it.

If you find the right shop, that can be welded back but they have to know what they are doing so they don't damage the seals or foot.

An inexpensive cosmetic fix would be to install a small hydro foil on the cav plate.........

Years ago I had a boat that was under powered and back then all you could really find was the big hydrofoils for large engines.......So I fabricated my own out of a piece of thin plate stainless steel. I made it smaller than most you can buy nowaday's but it worked great. really improved the holeshot and did not loose any top end speed...

the dole fin brand is pretty inexpensive and works great! Will fit motors of all sizes. I took one off an old 25 and put it on my 19 ft CC with a 115hp...changed the ride of the boat to the good by 100%...They're awesome!
