Just the hose pressure should make the motor pee without running. Something plugged somewhere

December of last year had impeller changed at reputable shop who i have used in past. I used boat 4 or 6 times this year and used last around September. I like to start and run every couple months in winter time just to keep it up cause i like to fish in winter.
Well i get it running and no water coming out spout. I stop engine pull off hose and blow air in and flows easily....Hook back up start back up and notta.....
Surely this new impeller is not bad already?
I didnt have it in water just muffs connected to hose.
Thanks
Tom

yeh something is plugged, sounds like you have been visited by a 'mud dauber'.

Take a piece of weedeater string about a foot and a half long....work it up the pee hole....keep working it....if you feel it hit something just keep jabbing it and work it as far as you can. When you remove the weedeater line you should see signs of dirt from mud dobbers. Hook up your hose and muffs then and it should start peeing a stream
My personal experience, is that you can't trouble shoot a outboard cooling system properly on muffs. I've had a number of different brand outboards that didn't like to pee on muffs. Submerge it in the water and it peed fine. Get yourself a barrel or other tub to run your motor in. I'd bet it will pee fine.
I'm with the barrel idea too. Make sure the impeller is an inch or two below the water line. It will pump water but not pick it up. I know a guy that has a stick carved to fit in his pee tube that hangs on a string to keep it nearby when he pulls out. He dealt with the daubers several times. Mud in the pickups and lodging in the system used to do about the same thing when skiing in FL when I was younger. A piece of #14 copper wire was standard equipment in the splash well.

Just an update. I store my boat in my shop so I don't think it was a dirtdobber but anything possible. I tried the weedeater line twice to no avail. I used compressed air which had water comin out bottom of outboard.....still wouldn't pee
So I wet ahead and took back to shop since I just replaced this 1 yr ago in December.
And now it sits....waiting for a report...will update when I get it back

Does it have a thermostat, the ones that do won't pee until it hits the right temp , just a thought ?
