    Default omc igniton switch question

I have a OMC / Johnson ignition switch that has no key. There is a 269 imprinted on the switch. Is this the key number I need?

How can I by-pass this switch to test if motor will fire? This motor hasn't ran in a few years, I've been told.

Anybody have one or a switch with a key they no longer need.....
    Thanks in advance

Yes that is the key number you need. It shouldn't be too hard to find one as they didn't make that many different keys. To bypass it disconnect the black/yellow wire(s) at the power pack(s) or at the key. Then you can jump the starter relay to test for spark. Don't ley it start as you won't be able to shut it off real quick.

Is that switch on the motor control box or in the dash ? Most original keys only have only have 1 or 2 numbers on them. At least all of them I have seen. They may have a letter on them also.

    Try this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-...-/180834520662

The switch might have been replaced at some point.
If all else fails you might have to replace the switch.
