I would expect that to be about right. If aluminum prop you might change to stainless and raise motor one bolt hole on transom. Might gain a couple of MPH. Have you tried changing the angle the motor sits on the transom bracket. Trimming it out a notch might help a little. You will just have to play with it some but your not going to see any dramatic difference.

Put on the 40 its rated for is about all you can do, the things Cray suggested are all spot on but you will never see 20 mph in that stick steer. If the motor, not sure if any of them did, has a tiller on it and you are alone moving to the rear and steering from there will make a huge difference. These are sweet little rigs but I have always thought them to be underpowered with the 25 on them.

I had a lowe 170 with a 25 merc with a 11 pitch stainless prop (I think is what it was). It would run 25 with me in it alone and 22 or 23 with 2 in it. Now it wasnt a stick steer so the weight was more to the middle but 2 guys, gear, livewell full would still run over 20. That boat should run faster. Do what cray says I had my motor raised up.

I have a 1546 xpress with a 25 Mercury tiller handle and a 13 pitch prop. It used to run 32 mph per gps with just me in it. It's fairly light because it had nothing in it to weigh it down. No wood flooring or decking etc. Plus the previous owner adjusted the throttle linkage to max it out.

I destroyed the factory 13 pitch and put a 14 pitch on my 40hp tracker stick steer. it was good for about 5 mph. DP
