I have a 15 HP Mariner outboard motor I recently bought, don't even know the year model but is was running okay when I bought it but the fuel line was dry-rotted. I just put a new fuel line on it and it still starts fine but dies after a few seconds.. I don't know a lot about outboard motors so is it the new line I put on or is that just a coincidence and it maybe is just my fuel pump, filter or carb? Any help will greatly be appreciated....

If the fuel line was dry rotted there is a good chance you have trash in the carb.

The bulb is staying pumped and the line is correct.. Maybe the carb has trash as Barnacle Bill said... How hard is it to clean the carb? And thanks to both of you for your input.
That carb should be easy to clean. Right in front and easy to get to. Should be able to pull bowl and check to see if you have anything in the bowl. With bowl off cut off a price of coke can that will fit under it. Then slowly pump the bulb to see how much fuel your getting through it. If it seems to flow ok then remove carb, turn over remove float then needle.pull seat and check to see it is clear. Spray some carb cleaner through. Then pull the main jet, spray with cleaner. Find some mono that will fit through jets to clean. If mono won't work I sometimes use a bristle from a wire brush. Just be careful when cleaning jets. Also check the fitting hose connects to at motor for trash. While your in there this would be a good time to replace hose from connector to fuel pump and from pump to carb.
