    Default Erratic Tachometer

My tach on my Polarkraft 165sc has been acting erratic lately. Yesterday it was idling and then it would pop up to around 1600 rpms and then back down. Motor is running smoothly though with no rpm change. It has done this before. Anyone know much about Tach setups? Motor is a 2003 merc 60 Bigfoot 2 stroke.

    Thanks

Check that all the connections on the back are clean and tight. Make sure you got a good ground. There is a little dial switch on the back you can flip it back a forth a couple of times. Just make sure you put it back where it was set. Sometimes the contacts get a little corrosion on the inside. Tachs can act up to when the rectifier goes bad but if yours is working intermittently I would check these other things first.

Thanks for the response. I will try to pull it out soon and check it.
