    Default Water Pump

I recently bought a stratos boat that has an 200hp Evinrude on it. I am by no means a mechanic but I changed the water pump out on it. It does pump a decent stream of water just not as hard as i think it should. I have always own yamaha and mercury and they pump alot harder. Is this normal for an Evinrude or where did i go wrong on putting this water pump in? Which I only had it hooked up to ears on a water hose and never put it in gear.

    Thanks

My merc doesn't push as much water on muffs as I'm the lake. So that might be the issue. If the water is hot coming out the there might be a problem.

The water never got hot and motor never got hot. I also talked to a guy that messes with them on the side he said the same thing and to give it some gas to see if it pumps harder. Might try to back it down in the lake this afternoon if i get a chance and see if it helps. Being this is the first time I have ever changed one I wanted to make sure I didnt do anything wrong.

Be careful with this one, it's going to get expensive if it starts running too hot.

U can run a piece of seedeater line in it to see if it is partially obstructed. Dinners like to put mud in em for sure.

Yea i backed it in the lake yesterday afternoon with the same results. Water was just running out of the pee hole. It had no pressure what so ever behind it. I am thinking I did something wrong or its stopped up some how.

did you just back in the lake,or did you take it off the trailer and test it?

I just backed in the lake on the trailer. I did put it in gear and reverse and gave it a little bit of gas. Not the slightest change in the water coming out. It was just a slow steady stream. Going to blow some air though the pee hole to make sure it is not stopped up. I already checked that once but who knows????
