It's time for new tires, where do you guys buy your tires and do you balance them? I've noticed that the inside of my tires are wearing out much faster than the rest of the tire and it's the same on both sides of the trailer, how do I check to see if the axle is bent and what can I do to fix the problem? Usually if the inside of the tires are wearing, you are over weight, or the axle has lost the factory has lost the camber they put in at the factory. If you put a straight edge across the bottom of the axle, you should see a gap in the middle. My one year old trailer wore the inside of the tires off, and when I put a straight edge on the axle, the gap was on the top, not the bottom. I just replaced the axle. Here's something from a trailer parts supplier.

CAMBER:

Axles are cambered or 'road set' so there is a bow until weight is put on the axle. All cambered axles should be mounted with the center bow up.

Everyone has their favorites and least favorites, but I would never buy Carlisle tires again. Many people have lots of trouble with them.
I went to Firestone, told them I wanted "trailer" tires. They put me some real trailer tires on, balanced them and I have never had a better
pulling trailer. Yes I would balance the tires and i would get good trailer tires on the boat trailer.

I stooped today to price out some tires at Discount tire and they carry Carlisle tires for about 100.00 o.t.d.

Some good info on this thread. My son's trailer tires seem to be wearing on the inside and outside more so than the middle. The air pressure is correct per the manufacturer. He did replace the axle a few years ago. Any thoughts???????

I do believe in putting on tires specifically for trailers, not passenger car tires, on my trailers.

I get most all my tires at a local shop in town. I've been running 6ply HiRuns on my Nitros trailer and it's a heavy boat. Tires have done great so far. Don't skimp out though, trailer tires never seem to last very long and like to blow out, especially on the way to the lake instead of the return trip.
