    Question Motor salvage question

    All,

I have a 1986 40 hp Evinrude. A friend of mine is about to scrap a 1976 50hp Evinrude and has told me that I can steal any parts that might be useful. I have swiped the props but was curious if there were any other parts (starter, lower unit, etc...) that might be interchangeable and worth saving???

Any input or suggestions are appreciated

    Caleb

Starter most likely , other parts probably not, electrics changed so power pack , stator , etc are diferent. The lower unit I'm not sure about, alot of times the shift rod was different and would not hook up from an older motor to a newer engine. motor company's are pretty slick about changing things ever so slightly so things won't interchange.

I'll take the lower unit, and pay the shipping if it'll work on an 88 model.

I will look into it and make sure Mr. Bill. I won't be home for another 3 1/2 weeks though. I'm stuck offshore till then. Also I was wondering if u sell edge boats?
