Yahama 70HP Water Pump Question---HELP!

OK, Got the water pump out today after finally cutting the head-off the lower unit bolt. Retap all the holes and that part is done. Now, I forgot to mark which way the little impeller went? I think you put in on and turn the shaft "CLOCKWISE" when you put the little housing back on. Is this correct? By the way, I hooked everything back up and forgot to hook-up the water tube that connets to the plactic piece that goes down when you put the lower unit back on. So, since i got it all apart again, I just want to make sure I got the impeller installed right. HELP ME PLEASE---ItS BEEN A LONG DAY!Doh

Look up in the motor where the shaft goes into and have someone bump the starter and see which way it turns. If it turns Clockwise you want the flappers to be cc. Dont know if I explained this right but you want the flappers to drag not push. If I knew how to draw pics on here it would be easier for you to see.

I know I am late with this post but do a search off of youtube and watch the videos they have on changing your impellar yourself. I changed mine last summer and when I did mine I watched the videos and that helped and I had help from CDC members. I did turn mine clockwise with the bowl on the shaft.

I changed it two years ago in less than an hour with zero issues. Changed pumps on every boat I've ever own with little to no issues. Ths time has been fun. I beleive the real problem was last time my buddy and I were drinking beer. This time, no beer and had issues all day! In fact, when I pulled it off for the second time I finally got a beer out of the cooler and sat down for a break. Thats when I looked up inside of the engine and noticed (forgot) the water tube! Today going to wear my sign "STUPID!" One thing I have learned, if you retap the lower unit mount bolt holes, they go in so easy by hand unitl you get ready to final tighten. Makes it easy to hold the lower unit and screw in the bolts without struggling to hold the unit and turn the screws with a wrench or socket.
