If you are using gas with ethanol then yes you need one. I prefer a 10 micron Racor with the drain on the bottom. They cost a little more but save you money in the long run. They are easy to install.

I've been thinking about adding a fuel/water separator on my boat. Do you guys think they are really necessary? They look relatively easy to install yourself. Are they? Any recommendations as to brands? I have a G3 with a built in gas tank. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. Don't most gas stations these day sell only gas that has ethanol? Thanks again?
unfortunately yes, probably a good idea to install one and add stabil to ur fuel. If u do that things should be ok.
