    Default loose tiller steer


    Does anyone know how to tighten a 1975 50hp merc it pivots way to easy Ive tightened others but cant seem to figure this one out. thanks

    Got that vintage 25hp Merc and there is a small (1/4" dia) flush slotted bolt that is on the left side of the motor standing behind it that adjust the tiller friction. It's located about dead center on the side. Usually gets covered with grease from use and I have to clean it up to find it. Hope that helps.
