The same wire as your tail lights.

I wired the plug from my truck incorrectly and the running lights came on every time I pressed the breaks. My father in law helped me fix the plug and we had one wire left over that didn't fire when tested. It was the running lights which had a fuze blown at the time. So my question is what wire do you splice the running lights into in a four wire plug?
The same wire as your tail lights.

brown
Four way plug color codes are:
Green - right turn indicator and brake light
Yellow - left turn indicator and brake light
Brown - license, side markers and running lights
White - Ground
Five way adds:
Blue - Electric trailer brakes
Six way adds:
Red or Black - Power winch, other 12V accy.
Seven way adds:
Purple - Back up lights
Hope this helps. One thing I recommend is to run a white wire to each light instead of doing what most trailer folks do and use the frame as a ground.
Quit complaining about the color, just pull up your skirt and fish! -- snagged
Fishtaco is right....running that ground wire to everything is a good idea.
