Will it hurt to add seafoam to gas that has been treated with Stabill for winterizing?

Seafoam has methanol in it and it doesn't go in my boat. Just stick with the blue Stabil. I especially wouldn't winterize with Seafoam.

Are you sure about the methanol part?

And yes, its ok to use with STA-BIL

I have used both for several years and never had anything but good happen. As far as avoiding SeaFoam due to Methanol. That's funny to me!!

when i winterize boats,i have my run tank mixed with seafoam,stabil,fogging oil and 2 stroke oil.works good

I'm not a mechanic nor chemical/petroleum engineer, so I looked to the "Seafoam" website: Motor Treatment - Sea Foam, for more information. Here is their claim: "SEA FOAM Motor Treatment is a 100% pure petroleum product that safely and effectively cleans internal fuel and oil system components, helping your gasoline or diesel engine run cleaner and more efficiently." I use it exclusive of other additives, including Marine Stabil, and I like the results.

The SeaFoam website lists the ingredients of SeaFoam as pale oil, naptha, and ISA. If you look toward the bottom of appropriate link, it shows that ISA is isopropanol. The Columbia Dictionary defines isopropanol as a colorless liquid that is miscible with water. It goes on to say that it is one of the cheapest alcohols and is a major component of rubbing alcohol. It gives synonyms as isopropyl alcohol and 2-propanol. I'm not a chemist, but it is definitely alcohol and, if my memory about rubbing alcohol is correct, methanol to boot.

I know SeaFoam is a great product to clean engines out and to use if you're running your motor regularly, but I wouldn't want to use it for winter storage or even if I was going to have an extended period when I wasn't using my motor and sure wouldn't want it in gas which has ethanol.
