Default Last Crappie Double Report 2014

It should have ended with a huge stringer and perhaps it did for someone. However we did have a good time and caught some decent crappie along with a few of those pesky LGMouth as well. The wind was not bad where we fished. Lots of bass tourney guys and even some catfish tourney guys out today. Great crew and they brought fried chicken.

Great way to end spring season. I will be surf fishing most of May and come June doing back water Potomac Pike.

Super high tide this morning. 6AM only half a ramp available, the rest under over a foot of water. Bass and a catfish tournament launching, equals pretty hectic. Crew arrived for round number two. We fished together three weeks ago and the winds were really bad and the fishing just as bad. This was a make up trip, from a rain out. We hit the creek and basically just picked at fish all day. Sixteen total fish in the boat and maybe four lost. We may have only had one, maybe two under ten inches. A few in formal wear but most in their post coitus colors. The bass and catfish tournament guys were loading the boats at the same time we were. The bass guys...well...

When does the fall crappie bite pick back up on the Potomac?

That is one tough nut to crack. October to December I would say.. But it has been also January as well. The biggest issue is it only last's a week or two before the big chill happens. That is the indicator a long cold snap. And then minus two weeks before it happens. Good luck on that.. weatherman can not even get it right for two days.
But when it does happen fish deep and on the bottom almost. Your graph will show large pods of fish close to bottom and may be perch or shad or who knows what. But they do not bite until you find the right pod of fish.
