I registered to fish it in my kayak on the 30th and am wondering if anyone knows good areas of the lake to taget either large crappie or stripers. Also, do any of yall know where I can get minnows near there? I have never fished it before and prefishing is out of the question because the lake is closed until the day of the tourrney.
Thanks in advance guys

I've fished there mostly for Largemouth, and although I've heard there are plenty of Stipers in there I've never caught or seen one caught there. The best Crappie action I've found is in a cove all the way down to the left of the dam. Although it's been a couple of years since I've been there, there was a beaver lodge back there that was always a good spot. I don't know of anyplace near there to get minnows, but if you're coming from south of there, Clyde's in the Landsdowne area has always had great bait everytime I've been in there.
Take some energy drinks with you. The wind there, especially this time of the year can be pretty fierce, so paddling can really drain you.![]()
Thanks for the info...I have ot look at my route to know really where to go for minnows I suppose. Obviously I will try to boat a striper early if I can but I will have a crappie rig or two out as well to hopefully catch a nice slap or two for weigh in. Definitely will have to check out that cove though.
how did the tourny go?
All in all not too stellar tear em up. Daysstarted good with a 10" yellow perch right off the bat. 10 minutes later i hooked what looked like a 12-15 lb striper. Fought her for a while which was fun in my yak but she spit my bait and the rest of my day was spent paddling all over that big ass lake and not catching a thing. Nobody did too well though. I did see a 2 1/4 crappie caught (only one of the day) which landed him in second overall for the tourney. A 12" trout also finished in the money to give you an idea of how yhe day went for just about everyone there.
I did get into some awesome trout action this morning though. Found a super deep pool that yielded several fish in the 2 lb class and finally saw one of those trophy 8-10 lb fish dnr has been stocking randomly. Couldnt get him to bite what I was offering but now i know where he lives so its only a matter of time now Haha.
