Got out after the yellow perch again today. Plenty of fish with a lot of small ones. All the fish cuaght were coughing up shad. Color of the day pink and gold. I think any color would of worked today. Here's the ones that made it to the frying pan today.

Very nice! Congrats....and thanks for sharing the report and picture.Thumbs Up
Where ya from that ya didn't know we had yellow perch? We got a guy in town visiting G-duck from upststate NY he likes the size of our perch. Got a coworker that lived in Ohio fished for perch on lake Erie he was amazed at our perch. I live right near the ocean and catch lots of different kinds of fish but yellow perch are right at the top of the best to eat list right with black sea bass in my opinion.
haha i know sad isnt it... my father always has been a salt water fisherman... and he would mainly base his fishing in sandy point... i grew up just fishing white perch, spot, croker and bluefish... we would also go to lakes and we would only catch blue gills.... my father never was a pro.. but now that i am 23 (yes im still young) i have been going out fishing for more than gills and sea pan fish.. i have gotten my own Jon boat for crappies and large mouth and rainbow trout... i have been doing research these past 4 years from large mouth, to black sea bass..... and its crazy how there are many species still that i yet have caught.... yellow perch and crappie have to be by far the most beautiful fish... sorry for being a rookie but give me a couple more years and y reports will be looking like captmike, mikeguard, and all you guys... in the past year i have learned a lot from you guys and this forum! from what to use ex. red roseys, to jigs and microlight rods from fishing in the potomac... yes its simple things and seems like common sense but trust me many people dont know how to fish in lakes for ex. people with saltwater rods with 3lbs weights in little lakes (man that bugs me)... well sorry for my long life story haha but this is my late introduction... -Henry
Thanks guys. Can you tell I'm addicted to fishing yet. I can't believe my wife is still with me. Lots of crappie and yellow perch in the Potomac. I do have my bad days. I just go a lot so sooner or later I'm going to catch fish. I use to target Largemouth but got bored with it. I fish Stripers and White perch in the summer. Then Crappies, Stripers, White perch and Tautog in the fall. Crappies, Walleye, Northern Pike, Pickerel and Yellow Perch all winter. Then Trout, Pickerel,Yellow Perch, and Stripers in the spring. I'm sure I left some fish out, If it swims I will fish for it. 99.9% of the time I fish with lures that I made. I use bait for the Tautog. I don't know how I fit hunting in there but I do.

I just thought you might be from another state or something Henry no big deal , when I was 23 I was single and man did I fish then along with crabbing and hunting. You"ll be an old pro some enough. Yea Mike I catch lots of tog but have yet to get one on a lure lol, we do catch them with jigs with a piece of crab on it.
Tear,
A friend of mine gave me a Tog jig last year. I was going to try to make them then I thought to myself why you still have to bait it. It's a lot easier on the wallet and time just to use hooks and sinkers. Do you think the jigs work any better?
We use em in a couple places where the current not strong or on a tide change they don't get hung up as much and some days they seem to catch more think you can feel em better other days don't seem to matter . Who gave ya the jig if ya don't mind me asking I've never seen anyone else use them.
Makes sense that you could feel the bite better. I guy I work with (John) bought them at IRI last year.
