Default Nags Head 2011 Part III

The last day of fishing I decided to return to the point and fish the incoming. Started at 5 pm and fished till 9 pm and only got a lizard fish for all my hard work. The winds where whipping a full 40 mph and you could not hold the wash with 8 ozs. So I settled on the south edge of the wash. Nobody got a single fish that night. Except me and one young man got a run off mystery fish.
    The sea was angry..

I put in 40 plus hours of surf time and no big drum. But it is the best time I have ever had and some of the best weather ever.
On the way out today I saw some of the destruction from the hurricane I missed on the way in at 2am... WOW..
Here is the KOA campgrounds and the amusement park in Salvo. Not much left..

They need our business down there, so if you can, go fish Salvo/ Avon or Buxton.. Maybe even catch a big drum..

Thanks Capt Mike for the pictures and your right about the help these people still need. I live here myself and didn't get as much damage here but was enough for me. You were really lucky you had any pavement to drive on. I will try to post some of the pictures where the Hwy was washed out. The only way we could help them was to carry supplies to them with a boat until the state built the road and I mean rebuilt not repaired. Our Baptist Mens Association set up a commercial kitchen under a hughe tent to prepair meals, give out water, food, clothes and any other help they might need. These people depend on the tourist season for there income so when the schools start back across the US most of the business shut down until next year. The fish equipment stores will stay open until after the big Drum run goes through and the big Stripers move through,so they close shop from Dec until around middle of March to Easter weekend. Thanks Capt Mike for your visit and hope you had a great experience with us. I also commercial fish for a living and after the hurricane came through a lot of fish left us. Thanks to all of you who have come to visit eastern NC.

Sorry about the spelling, ant to go at that

    God Bless
