Not crappie......but not a bad start to the year

Took the Father in Law out today to start the new year. Fishing in 40-50feet of water. We wound up catching 92 between us. 18 went home for dinner tomorrow. (2 short of our allowable limit but we weren't keeping anything under 11"even though the min is 9")

We are only using 2" grubs but look at what one of the 13"ers threw up....

I should have put a ruler in the photo, but for reference the round thing to the right is the head of a 3/16 rivet (about 1/4" in diameter)

Nice catch. I thought they would be biting now. Water depth clued me in on the location.

Kept another 18 today. Took my FIL and brother today. 8am till noon - 167 fish on the crappie counter. Caught them as deep as 73' today.

wow thats getting some deep water . i would ahte to jig that far and would really hate to pull that much tipup line out lol.

great catch though and i'm sure it was fun . i need one of those days here in the western part of the state .
