    Default Crappie dudes 1st tautog!

We gave the crappie a break and went Tautog fishing and my son crappie dude caught his 1st tautog . He ended up catching 5 of these hard to hook hard fighting critters , we ended up with 12 keepers out of 19 . We fought real hard tides but had a good day all in all. There real good to eat too.

That's what I want to do this year. Never fished for them but hear how GOOD they are to eat.

I never find time to do it when we are in OC for vacation and can't seem to get motivated to drive 3 hours to fish for the day anymore.

    Nice "thick" fish BTW.

    Nice!!

Awesome eating is an understatement!!!! I usually go up to New Bedford (Mass.) and catch em on the avg 7-9 lbs!!! Those along with Seabass are awesome eating!!! Lots of rocky reefs and structure. When you hook em, get to reeling and don't let them dive into the structure. If you do, slack off and wait til it comes out of the rocks. Otherwise you'll break off or it will break you off! Mainly catch em using green/fiddler crabs.
