Seen a couple others similar to that one. One with Shad in the cooler and another one with White Perch ... both referred to as Crappie.

The ones out of Richland Chambers and Lake Palestine are edible, but the ones out of the river are nasty!

Ate a ton of those growing up. Fun to catch, used to fish the jumps in July-August with big roostertails. If you’re fish-hungry, hot out the grease, some ketchup-
    Yeah I know better now

Yeah, JW ..... I've eaten a ton of them, myself, over the years. And I don't ever remember cleaning them or having them cleaned with the red meat removed. We didn't "fillet" anything back then.

It was the early 70's when I saw the first fish cleaned with a electric knife...........we scrapped everything, Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Drum, we fed the Sheephead to the crabs in the holding box. Gills got scrapped too. Didn't fish freshwater much back then you could fill coolers with Speckled Trout 2 at a time so nobody hardly freshwater fished. They could replace Space Shuttle Tiles with Redfish Scales!
