    Default Sunday Pre-front Trip

Made a trip yesterday, hoping the fish would be active the day before the latest cold front would come through. Like most other places, the last few days have been unseasonably warm. I had fished the same area the day before (Saturday), and only managed a few fish (four of them were 14", though), so just to be safe, I bought some live minnows on my way to the landing. I ended catching a few on a new style of custom hair jig I bought recently, but the majority of them were on live minnows, suspended on submerged structure in 5-7' of water. I ended up having to leave a little earlier than I anticipated because I got soaked by a rain shower preceding the front. I got a brand new rain suit, but because I just found a few fish on a submerged stump, I didn't want lose the opportunity to try to catch them, so I waited to put the rain suit on, and ended up getting drenched. At least I caught a nice fish off the stump, though!

I usually have a tank full of shiners when winter is on the way. I love fishing minnows this time of year. Thanks for posting.
