Yep it's needed to be able to jog & in my opinion it's worth it if you spotlock on brush piles a lot. I usually do at 30 then jog to 15. You can spotlock without the heading sensor but you absolutely can not jog without it.

Bought one for my small boat with the micro remote but going to get the full sized remote and a Humminbird g4n fishfinder to access all functions. My question is do I have to buy the heading sensor in order to access the jog feature of the remote, I keep finding conflicting info some says yes others say no. Does the Advanced GPS powerdrive v2 have a built in heading sensor or not. Dont want to spend a extra 160.00 for one if no need.
If it does not seems like a ripoff to have to buy extra stuff to access this feature when my Motorguide Xi5 came with this feature and worked w/o extra stuff. Wish I would of kept it when I sold my pontoon.

Sure wish Motorguide was still around, Minn Kota seems to purposely leave stuff off to make you spend more money. Oh well it is what it is. Thanks.
Oh, does the A-GPS Power Drive not come with a Bluetooth heading sensor? My A-GPS Ultrex had one, so I was assuming that the other non-Quest A-GPS trolling motors did as well.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.Billbob LIKED above post
No it doesn't just the higher end motors. I just ordered the heading sensor for mine plus the full sized remote so have almost 1700.00 in the trolling motor now. Which for whats being charged for them now is not a lot but sure not cheap.
