What bouncy should a personal floatation devise have for a 280 lb. . man . Are the higher bouncy life vest bulky compared to the lighter ones like 22 lbs. ?

We use these. They fit a chest 30-65 inches and have a minimum 35 lbs buoyancy. Site Maintenance
Easy on, easy off was important for us as I rarely take mine off. I don’t even realize I have it on half the time.
There is also this model that is a bit less expensive.. Fits 30-52 inches chest and offers a minimum 22.5 lbs of buoyancy. Site Maintenance

I use the BPS model of self inflating vest...they are made for beefy folks like us(I'm 265) and I barely notice I have it on except for the summertime when it's obnoxiously hot. I promised my bride that I would wear one all the time when I'm by myself. There has been a rash of boating accidents/drownings around here lately so she wanted me to wear it.
That is something that’s been on my mind lately. I’m wondering how much I need to float me with my prosthetic leg. I asked my Doc that built it, and he said it shouldn’t take any extra floatation. I do trust him, but have searched the web high and low for some second opinion reassurance and found nothing.
