I've used them under a slip float under piers during the winter/early spring. Catch a lot of yellow perch on them too.

I've used them and Silver Buddy blade baits for White Bass & Hybrid Striped Bass (casting & trolling), but never for Crappie. But, I don't see why they wouldn't work Pushing or Longlining in open water for Crappie. Probably work okay for deep water jigging, too, like when using a jigging spoon or Kastmaster (during a Shad die off).

I use them for crappie & white bass. I find what depth the shad are holding, then set the lure one to two feet deeper (most crappie are below the shad), then paddle just fast enough to make the blade vibrate. The drag from the lure & line will cause it to ride up where the shad are. Make sure to set your drag loose, because you never know might hit that Cicada. Like usual, gold works well in muddy/stained water and silver is better in clearer/clean water. I've caught crappie up to 2+ pounds and white bass up to 4 pounds on Cicadas. They work great in winter and summer, plus the fish aren't used to seeing them. Make sure your hooks are sharp.
